Walsall bulky item collections service to resume

The council’s bulky items collections service will resume for Walsall residents under revised arrangements from Thursday 14 May 2020 after it was postponed in late March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The British Army Testing in Walsall

I'm incredibly grateful to the British Army for giving me a tour of the very efficient, temporary test centre they have set up at Walsall College , processing approximately 400 tests per day. This is apparently one of 90 similar centres they have established across the country.

It’s National Postal Workers Day and I want to thank all postal workers who collect, sort and deliver letters, parcels and packets to 29 million addresses, 6 days a week. Particularly with all they are doing during this crisis.

Garden Waste Collections

It's good to see that garden waste collection will start on a revised schedule from 11th May. I'll keep urging the Council to re-open the tips so we don't have to suffer increased fly-tipping.

Walsall Manor Update

If you are acutely unwell then please go to the hospital.

On Friday I spoke to Richard Beeken, the Chief Exec of Manor Hospital, and he told me that there has been a 50% reduction in people attending A&E.

Willenhall Train Station Update

Planning applications have now been submitted to Walsall Council to build the brand new Willenhall train station. This is exciting news as we move a step closer to opening a station in Willenhall for the first time since 1965. 

Caparo Housing in Walsall North

I’m delighted that the former Caparo site will now provide local homes and jobs for the people of Walsall North.
The old steelworkers site in Birchills is set to see 252 new homes built to meet future demand. 

Investing in Walsall North Schools

I’m delighted that the Government are investing the largest funding boost in a decade in our schools. Our children deserve the best education in Bloxwich, Willenhall and Walsall North.
