Today is Budget Day and i'm pleased to say that we've already had some success - with the £4.2 million awarded by the government to improve local transport, but the work does not stop there! I then met with the Chancellor, Philip Hammond, along with other West Midlands MP's to push for a budget that puts hardworking people first. By voting Conservative: Bloxwich, Willenhall and north Walsall now have a voice in Parliament that is fighting for you and gets a seat with people at the top table. I am putting Walsall North on the map in Westminster to deliver the change people want.
Today I am pleased to say that the Budget delivers on…..
1. Money for more housing: At least £44 billion of capital funding, loans and guarantees to deliver 300,000 additional homes a year - the biggest since the 70's.
2. No stamp duty for first time buyers on property worth up to £300,00 - helping people get on the housing ladder.
3. No rise in fuel duty: Since 2010 we've saved the average car driver £850 by cancelling Labour's planned increases.
4. £600 pay rise for someone working full-time on the National Living Wage: As a result of tax cuts & National Living Wage, someone working full-time on NLW will take home £3,800/year more than in 2010.
5. Personal Allowance Increase: All private and public sector workers benefit from the increase in the tax-free allowance to £11,850. A typical taxpayer will be £1,075 better off since 2010.
6. A significant increase to the NHS budget: The NHS will see a £7.5bn increase in the course of this Parliament since 2015.
7. A second devolution deal for the West Midlands, which means more funding for our area to spend on local priorities, under the leadership of Mayor Andy Street.
