I was delighted to hear that Step Four of the roadmap for easing restrictions will go ahead on Monday 19th July.
This has been made possible by the continued success of our vaccination programme, with over 80 million vaccines administered and two-thirds of adults having received both doses. I would like to say thank you to the NHS staff, volunteers, and all those involved in this successful national effort.
The following will change this Monday:
- All legal limits on social contact will be removed
- End to social distancing
- Remaining hospitality venues like nightclubs and large events to resume
- No quarantine for those who are fully vaccinated from amber list destinations
Whilst this easing of restrictions is a big step, it is vital that people act responsibly to protect themselves and others. This includes continuing to self-isolate when required, wearing face masks in crowded areas unless exempt, and using the NHS Covid-19 app.
