Welcoming today's announcement, Eddie said, "Today the Government outlined legislation to cap gas and electric bills, which will help many many households in Bloxwich, Willenhall and north Walsall. More than 18 million households in Great Britain are currently on an unfairly priced tariff that penalises loyalty so the proposal will give power to OFGEM to take action to deal with these rip off energy bills."
"OFGEM have said that the average bill for a typical dual fuel household on a standard variable tariff with one of the "big six" suppliers was £1,142. In contrast the cheapest tariff available over the same period was £824, a difference of £318 so clearly there are savings to be made."
"Although Conservatives believe in free markets, we will not hesitate to take action when those markets are broken."
