The Government have today awarded Walsall Council funding from the Department’s National Productivity Investment Fund for the Walsall Economic Growth and Infrastructure Package. The Department will award £4.285 million. This will be used to improve the Park & Ride at Bloxwich North station, improvements to roads around the M6 junction 10, and to create new cycleways.
The National Productivity Investment Fund aims to ease congestion and provide upgrades on important national, regional or local routes to help unlock
economic and job opportunities or enable the delivery of vital new housing developments.
Eddie Hughes MP said, "I'm delighted by today's double whammy of Government investment in Walsall North. The award of over £4 million is very welcome. I have pushed for investment by the Government to help improve the Chase Line and i'm delighted that they've now awarded funded to improve the Park & Ride at the station. This is welcome for both commuters and residents."
"Money to improve roads around junction 10 of the M6 will link nicely with the announcement earlier today that the junction 10 improvements are to be pulled forward. The sooner these improvements happen, the better for all of us. I will keep on at Highways England and the Council to ensure that disruption is kept to a minimum. Finally, investment in better cycleways around Walsall is good news for cyclists."
