Send Eddie your views on making Brexit a success

There is one issue that keeps cropping up on my visits around Walsall North: and it’s Brexit. There is much optimism from people I have met across Bloxwich and Willenhall. After all, the reason that the EU didn’t want the UK to leave shows how much leverage the UK has in negotiations.

Major rail improvements for the West Midlands announced

Major rail improvements for Walsall and the West Midlands have been announced by the Government.

For Walsall this means more frequent services, more carriages and a new direct rush-hour service between Walsall and London from December 2018.

This week’s column comes from Walsall as Parliament is in recess. But there is plenty to do and I will spend the next few weeks in Walsall North meeting residents, groups and businesses. And if my email inbox is anything to go by, there are plenty of issues to be helping with!

Eddie comments on recent illegal traveller camps

Residents have contacted both myself and local councillors about this issue and they are quite rightly very distressed by this ongoing and extremely frustrating problem. I am extremely sympathetic to the many concerns that have been raised and it is something that needs tackling head on.

Update on Willenhall E-ACT Academy

I wrote to Sir David Carter - the National Schools Commissioner in charge of academy standards - late last month regarding the inadequate Ofsted report at Willenhall E-ACT Academy.
