Over a hundred Members of Parliament across the political spectrum, including Walsall North MP Eddie Hughes, are backing efforts to get Britain’s Sikh community recognised as a separate ethnic group, by Britain’s official statistics body.
Eddie Hughes has welcomed the Government's decision to hold a debate on illegal traveller camps on the 9th October, following a meeting with Sajid Javid - Secretary of State for Local Government.
Eddie recently spoke in Parliament on the need to value all workers, and not just public sector workers. He highlighted how Conservative policies such as increasing the minimum wage and increasing the income tax threshold have helped both public and private sector workers.
On Wednesday 13th September, I was delighted to be given permission by the House of Commons to present my Ten Minute Rule Bill to prevent death and injury from Carbon Monoxide Poisoning. I have attached my full speech below.
The Prime Minister has been clear that there must be no attempts to remain inside the EU, no attempts to re-join it through the back door, and no second referendum.
There is one issue that keeps cropping up on my visits around Walsall North: and it’s Brexit. There is much optimism from people I have met across Bloxwich and Willenhall. After all, the reason that the EU didn’t want the UK to leave shows how much leverage the UK has in negotiations.
This week’s column comes from Walsall as Parliament is in recess. But there is plenty to do and I will spend the next few weeks in Walsall North meeting residents, groups and businesses. And if my email inbox is anything to go by, there are plenty of issues to be helping with!
