Permission has been granted by Walsall Council to build the new A&E at Walsall Manor Hospital.
I began campaigning for a new A&E department at Walsall Manor Hospital soon after I was elected as an MP and was successful in securing £36M of funding for it to be built. So I'm delighted that Walsall Council have this evening approved planning permission to start building!
The exciting plans will see a brand new two-storey healthcare building erected and the existing A&E facility refurbished. The transformation will not only deliver much needed capacity to the department, but will also create 118 new jobs at the hospital.
I look forward to keeping you updated as progress is made on the way to completion in April 2022.
