I know that people across Bloxwich, Willenhall and Walsall North are concerned about crime - particularly regarding theft and disruption along our high streets and in retail shops.
Yesterday, the Government announced a Fighting Retail Crime plan, which includes:
- A specific new offence for assaults on retail workers
- Expanding the use of GPS tagging for repeat offenders
- £55.5m investment in facial recognition technology
- Measures to help businesses report offences
We need tough action to drive down crime and I hope these measures are a step in the right direction to help retail workers and shoppers feel safer on our high streets.
