King Charles III addressed the Houses of Parliament this morning as Speakers of the House of Lord and House of Commons gave speeches of condolences to His Majesty.
We now move into a sad time as the national period of mourning continues and Her Majesty's last journey begins. King Charles III will be flying to Edinburgh today and will join the procession to honour Her Majesty the Queen from the Palace of Holyroodhouse to Saint Giles Cathedral. There will then be a service and the vigil of the Princes' at 7.20pm.
On Tuesday 13th September, Her Majesty the Queen's coffin will depart from Edinburgh Airport to RAF Northolt and will be accompanied by the Princess Royal, Princess Ann. Her Majesty will arrive at Buckingham Palace where her coffin will rest in the Bow room.
On Wednesday 14th September, there will be a ceremonial procession through London to Westminster Hall where the Archbishop of Canterbury will conduct a short service. Her Majesty The Queen will lie in state which will open at 5pm on Wednesday 14th September. It will be open 24 hours a day until it closes at 6.30am on Monday 19th September. If you wish to attend Her Majesty's lying in state to pay your respects, please expect airport style security. Due to long queues with potential overnight waiting, please wear weather appropriate clothing and have food/drink available.
On Monday 19th September, Her Majesty's State Funeral will take place at 11am in Westminster Abbey.
